Adequate sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools are critical to creating a healthy and positive environment for children and enhance their learning and development.1 Unfortunately, many schools in India lack these necessary facilities.
To improve this situation, we launched a School Sanitation and Development Program in 2017 to augment school infrastructure for these services. We have expanded the program to also include infrastructure, science education, digitization and menstrual hygiene. So far, we have helped build or refurbish 250 sanitation units, which have benefited at least 5000 children in over 30 schools in 5 Indian states.
